Explore woods, meadows, and streams to discover all the amazing things that happen all the time outside. Learn how to use your eyes, ears, nose, and sense of touch to experience the world like never before. By the end of the week, you’ll be a real naturalist, and will be able to see everything, even your backyard, in a new way. Creeks And Critters

Explore the wet and wild areas in and around Sheridan. We will search for and learn about the animals who live
near these riparian areas. Not only will we look for animals who live near the water, we will also look IN the water for macroinvertebrates. These are insects who begin their life underwater. Students will complete a field journal, record

Calling all junior biologists! Join Audubon Wyoming Community Naturalists on a three-day extravaganza exploring the sky, water, and ground searching for signs of life. Students will learn all about birds, aquatic life, and even how to find animal tracks. Please dress appropriately for outdoor activities and bring a snack, lunch, water bottle,
hat, and sunscreen. All materials will be provided. On the second day, students’ feet may be in the water, so rubber boots or other shoes that can get wet and muddy are suggested. All materials will be provided: Instructors: Dustin and Jacelyn Downey, Audubon Naturalists.

Bug Out!

Bugs are everywhere, we just have to look for them! Spend a week identifying insects and other invertebrates, and find out the many wonderful and wacky things they do, many of which are helpful to humans. You'll use a variety of tools to learn how insects are adapted to the Wyoming environment, and even start your own bug collection. A fun experience for the aspiring entomologist! Science Adventurers

Stretch yourselves in this class for older kids, exploring the outdoors. Use your skills with map and compass, hike in to a geocache, build a fire, compare life and water quality in two
aquatic ecosystems, and team up for some nature art. End the class with a stewardship project and some fun and whacky science experiments. Please dress appropriately for outdoor activities and bring a snack, lunch, water bottle, hat, and sunscreen. All materials will be provided. Instructor: Annie

Fly-Fishing

Join two of Sheridan’s premier fisherwomen as they explore fly-fishing from the water up. Kids will learn entomology as it pertains to fishing, become familiar with equipment, learn to
cast, and spend time fishing on still water. Water safety will be stressed. The last day will be an outing where students will try their hand at stream fishing. Please dress appropriately for outdoor activities and bring a snack, lunch, water bottle, hat, and sunscreen. Students will need to bring their own fly-rods. The Art of Birding

Look closely! They’re blue, yellow, gray, red and brown. They can fly, sing, and are crafty with sticks and grass. You guessed it- we’re headed out to explore the world of ornithology! We will learn how to identify birds, where to look for certain species and learn bird calls. Scientists can also be artists, and often use their art to document what they observe. The second part of the course will be an art adventure where you’ll play with fine art techniques, enhancing all that you just saw in the field. Please dress appropriately for outdoor/art activities and bring a snack, lunch, water bottle, hat, and sunscreen. Join amateur astronomer, Sam Singer, for an evening of exploring stars, planets, nebulae, galaxies, and more at the beautiful Bradford Brinton Memorial and Museum. Bring the whole family to enjoy learning about the incredible connectedness of everything in the night sky. We’ll use a ten inch Dobsonian telescope, binoculars and star charts to learn how to find and recognize objects so you can enjoy viewing the night sky back at home. Instructor, Sam Singer: M.S.
